An Umbrella Cockatoo is a striking white parrot with a dramatic rounded crest, strong personality, and a real need for daily interaction. These birds are highly social and can form very close bonds with their caregivers, which is why I always encourage prospective owners to think beyond appearance and consider the time they can give a companion bird.

What to Expect From This Bird

This is not a quiet, low-maintenance pet. Cockatoos can be loud, energetic, affectionate, and determined, and they need opportunities to chew, play, forage, and spend meaningful time outside their enclosure. A spacious, sturdy setup and plenty of safe toys are important for keeping an active bird occupied.

Nutrition matters just as much. A quality formulated pellet can form the foundation of the diet, with appropriate fresh vegetables and limited fruit or treats added for variety. Fresh drinking water should always be available.
