Shipping & Delivery Procedure

Bringing a cockatoo into your home is an exciting decision, but getting your bird from the breeder to you safely is an equally important part of the process. At our cockatoo website, we take transportation seriously and carefully plan every stage of the journey with your bird’s safety, comfort, and welfare in mind. Whether you are located nearby or in another region, we work to make the collection or transportation process as straightforward and well-organized as possible.

As Mr. Parrot, I understand that new owners naturally have questions about how their cockatoo will travel. These birds are intelligent, sensitive animals, and their journey should never be treated as an ordinary package shipment. Proper planning, suitable travel arrangements, and careful attention to airline requirements are essential.

How the Cockatoo Delivery Process Begins

Once you have selected your cockatoo and the necessary arrangements have been discussed, we begin gathering the information needed to plan the transportation or pickup process.

Depending on the travel method and destination, we may request information such as:

  • Your full name

  • Your complete address

  • City and state or region

  • Postal or ZIP code

  • A reliable telephone number

  • Your preferred email address

  • Your nearest suitable airport

  • The name you have chosen for your new cockatoo

Accurate information is important because travel arrangements must be made carefully. A simple mistake in an address, telephone number, or airport location can create unnecessary delays, so we encourage customers to review their information before final arrangements are confirmed.

Cockatoo Air Travel Arrangements

When air transportation is appropriate and legally available for the route, travel arrangements are made according to applicable airline and animal transportation requirements.

Your cockatoo will travel in a suitable carrier that meets the requirements established for the specific journey. Proper ventilation, adequate space, secure construction, and safe handling are all important considerations.

Airline availability can change depending on the destination, route, weather, season, and current animal transportation policies. For this reason, we do not assume that one airline or travel schedule will always be available.

Whenever transportation is arranged, the specific travel plan is selected based on the safest practical option for the bird.

Travel Details and Customer Updates

Once transportation arrangements have been confirmed, customers will receive the relevant information needed to prepare for their bird’s arrival.

Depending on the travel arrangements, this information may include:

  • Departure information

  • Scheduled arrival time

  • Airport pickup instructions

  • Relevant travel or booking details

  • Instructions for preparing for the cockatoo’s arrival

We believe communication is important during this process. New cockatoo owners are often excited and, understandably, a little nervous about the journey. Clear information can make the experience much easier.

However, travel schedules can occasionally change. Flight delays, weather conditions, airline operational changes, or other unexpected circumstances may affect the original plan.

Estimated Delivery Time

The amount of time required to complete transportation depends on several factors. Distance, airline schedules, destination requirements, weather conditions, and available routes can all influence the final timeframe.

Rather than promising an identical delivery time for every customer, we prefer to discuss the expected timeframe based on the specific destination and transportation arrangements.

Our priority is not simply to move a cockatoo as quickly as possible. The goal is to arrange transportation responsibly and avoid unnecessary stress or complications.

Protecting Your Cockatoo During Transportation

A cockatoo’s welfare remains an important consideration throughout the travel process. Before transportation is arranged, the bird’s condition and the proposed travel circumstances should be considered carefully.

Appropriate measures may include selecting a secure travel carrier, ensuring suitable ventilation, providing required travel identification, and following applicable airline or transportation procedures.

When suitable routes are available, reducing unnecessary travel connections can also be beneficial. Long waits and repeated handling can create additional stress, particularly for parrots that are unfamiliar with transportation.

From my experience with parrots, preparation matters. A calm, organized journey usually begins long before the bird reaches the airport.

Weather and Travel Safety

Weather conditions can have a significant effect on animal transportation. Extremely high temperatures, cold conditions, storms, or other unsuitable weather may result in transportation being postponed or rescheduled.

While delays can be disappointing, the safety of the cockatoo must always come before convenience.

If travel conditions are considered unsuitable, arrangements may need to be adjusted until a safer opportunity becomes available. We would rather wait and make a responsible decision than expose a bird to unnecessary risk simply to meet an original schedule.

Payment and Purchase Documentation

Before any financial transaction is completed, customers should clearly understand the terms of the purchase and the arrangements that have been agreed upon.

Where applicable, documentation may include a sales agreement, ownership transfer information, health-related records, and other relevant paperwork connected with the cockatoo.

These documents help both the buyer and seller understand their responsibilities and provide a clear record of the agreed purchase.

Payment options should always be discussed directly before any transaction is completed. Customers should carefully review the payment instructions and confirm that they are communicating through the correct and verified business contact channels.

If you have questions about payment, ownership documentation, or the purchase process, it is always best to ask before completing the transaction.

Personal Flight Companion or Nanny Transportation

For customers who prefer a more personally supervised travel arrangement, a flight companion or bird transportation service may sometimes be available depending on the route and applicable requirements.

With this type of arrangement, a responsible person may accompany the bird during the journey and oversee the travel process from departure through arrival.

The availability of this service depends on factors such as the destination, airline policies, travel regulations, and scheduling.

For some new cockatoo owners, having additional supervision during transportation provides extra reassurance. However, each journey is different, and the available options should be discussed individually before arrangements are finalized.

Preparing for Your Cockatoo’s Arrival

Before your cockatoo arrives, it is important to have the bird’s new environment ready.

Prepare a suitable cage or aviary, fresh food and water, appropriate perches, and a quiet space where the bird can settle after the journey. Avoid overwhelming your cockatoo with too many people, loud sounds, or excessive handling immediately after arrival.

Give your bird time to observe its new surroundings. Cockatoos have individual personalities, and some settle quickly while others need a little more patience.

At Buy Cockatiels, and through my work as Mr. Parrot, I believe that responsible bird ownership begins before the cockatoo even arrives home. Safe transportation is only one part of the process. Proper preparation, patience, and long-term commitment are just as important.

Our goal is to help make the transition from breeder to new home as organized, responsible, and comfortable as possible for both you and your cockatoo.
