HARU, Male Galah Cockatoo Parrot

Haru is a male Galah cockatoo parrot with the naturally social character that makes this species such an interesting companion. Galahs are widely described as playful birds, and their flock-oriented nature means they are accustomed to regular social contact.

With Haru, I would encourage a new owner to focus on building trust instead of expecting an instant bond. Calm conversation, consistent handling, interesting toys and supervised time outside the cage can help a cockatoo become comfortable with its surroundings. A friendly personality should always be judged from the individual bird rather than promised simply because of its species. Give Haru time to settle, respect his body language and let his own character come through naturally.

Cockatoos for sale

Cockatoos for sale should never be chosen simply because a bird looks impressive in a photograph. When I speak with someone interested in bringing a cockatoo home, I always encourage them to consider the bird’s temperament, history, diet, socialization, health records and the amount of daily interaction they can realistically provide. That is especially important with a Galah, a lively Australian cockatoo known for its striking pink-and-grey plumage and social behavior.

Why Galahs Stand Out

The Galah, scientifically known as Eolophus roseicapilla, reaches about 35–36 cm in length. Its rose-pink head, neck and underparts contrast with its grey back and wings, making it particularly easy to recognize. Wild Galahs commonly gather in large flocks and spend much of their feeding time searching the ground for seeds.

That natural social nature is something a prospective owner should take seriously. A companion Galah needs regular interaction, safe enrichment and opportunities to stay mentally occupied. They can also be vocal, with a distinctive high-pitched call, so a quiet household is not automatically the ideal environment for every individual.

What I Recommend Checking

Before purchasing, ask for the bird’s age, sex, weaning status, current diet and health history. I would also want to know how the bird has been handled and whether it is comfortable around people.

Diet deserves particular attention. Wild Galahs feed mainly on seeds, including grass and cultivated-crop seeds, but a captive bird should have a carefully managed diet rather than being given an unsuitable seed-heavy routine simply because seeds are part of its natural diet.

Choosing the Right Bird

A good match comes from understanding the individual bird rather than assuming every Galah will behave exactly the same way. If you are comparing Cockatoos for sale, take your time, ask direct questions and make sure you can provide appropriate housing, enrichment, companionship and veterinary care for the long term.

For me, the sale is only one part of responsible bird placement. The more important goal is helping the bird move into a home where its needs are understood and its personality has room to develop naturally.

My Triton Cockatoo is an absolute riot. He loves mocking the microwave beep and dancing sideways across his perches. Shipped cleanly, hydrated well, and showed zero signs of travel fatigue. Highly professional team.
